RECOMMENDATIONS OF TWO-DAY REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON

CONFLICT RESOLUTION RESEARCH HELD ON NOVEMBER 10-

11, 2009 ORGANIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE

HANNS SEIDEL FOUNDATION, ISLAMABAD.

1. Enhance capacity building at the University level for training in Conflict Resolution Research (CRR).
2. Learning and sharing of knowledge and expertise between researchers from the developed and developing world on CRR.
3. Creating a South Asian perspective on CRR.
4. Involving corporate sector to help sponsor research on conflict and conflict resolution.
5. Influencing state to adopt an encouraging approach on CRR.
6. Promote conflict research related to local issues.
7. To make research on understanding conflicts easy and accessible to people.
8. To engage civil society for the promotion of CRR.
9. To help establish a culture of research which can enhance clarity on the subject of conflict and conflict resolution.
10. To create a database on research done on conflict and conflict resolution.
11. Practical application of CRR needs to be thought about, particularly those belonging to the younger generation.
